And we’re off!

Over the past two weeks, Seabreeze Sports held evaluations for our 2017-18 Upward Basketball and Cheer League! Upward is a youth sports program that provides a fun and safe environment where kids can grow not only athletically, but mentally, socially and spiritually as well. At evaluations, each basketball player performs series of shooting and agility drills. Volunteers record each player’s scores. The scores are then used to form balanced teams that promote healthy competition.

In all, more than 200 players were evaluated. That’s 28 players per hour of evaluations! To pull this off, six Seabreeze Growth Groups stepped up and provided the 60 volunteers to help with evaluations. They each sacrificed an evening or afternoon to serve the Upward families by rebounding basketballs, operating stopwatches, folding jerseys, welcoming families, and registering players.

Not only did they show up to complete the tasks that needed to be done, but they did it with an attitude that showed a genuine love for the families involved. It is that attitude that made evaluations great and it is the same attitude that will make for a great 2017-18 season!

Finally, if this blog is making you think, “Oh no! We missed evaluations!”, then I have good news for you. There will be a Make-up Evaluation on Thursday, October 12th from 5:00-8:00pm! If you have a child that would like to participate in Upward, you can sign them up by clicking the link below and then attend the make-up evaluation.

Practices begin in November and we are looking forward to a great season!
