Seabreeze Mission Statement:
“To move the unchurched to become fully committed Christ followers.”
1. Put the Goals and Interests of Others Above My Own
Philippians 2:3-4 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
We make it our goal to live unselfishly, putting the interests of others above our own.
2. Live an Honest and Open Life
Ephesians 4:25 “Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body.”
We develop authentic relationships where we are honest and open about what is really going on in our lives. This helps us make progress in our walk with God and deepens our trust on one another.
3. Give and Receive Scriptural Correction
Hebrews 3:12-13 “See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”
We are easily self-deceived and so we open ourselves up to the input of others.
4. Clear Up Relationships
Matthew 5: 23-24 “Therefore if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.”
When there are problems in a relationship, we make every effort to clear things up. We talk to those involved and ask for and give forgiveness.
5. Participate in the Work of the Church
I Peter 4:10 “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.”
Each of us joyfully serves the church, using the gifts, talents, and abilities that God has given us for the benefit of everyone.
6. Support the Church Financially
Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
We recognize that all of our resources belong to God. We know that God has been generous to us, and we gratefully give back to God a portion (a tithe).
7. Follow Spiritual Leadership in the Church within Scriptural Limits
Hebrews 13:17 “ “Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.”
God has gifted some of us to be leaders, and we follow them in a way that brings our leaders joy.
