Meet Lisa Workman

How long have you been on staff at Seabreeze?

I started working at Seabreeze on August 19, 2019

What is your role/what are your current responsibilities?

As a Ministry Support Associate, my main role is to provide administrative support to certain ministries.  I assist growth groups, the care ministry, the women’s ministry, and Seabreeze’s training programs. I will also help my coworkers in other areas whenever extra help is needed.

What is the best part about your work?

The best part about my job is being surrounded by church family in a work environment. Just because everyone who works for Seabreeze is a Christian, that does not mean they are without their humanity, or devoid of the same sinful nature that permeates the rest of the fallen, broken world. The difference is that I am comforted to know that my co-workers are navigating their lives according to the Bible and along with the Heart Attitudes. In other words, we are a team of people working toward the same end in the same way. Some practical examples of what that looks like are: If I need help with something, I can ask someone. If I have a conflict with someone, it is best to stop and resolve it as soon as possible. If I cannot get all my tasks completed, I just need to inform the person who has assigned me the task. No one is here to shame me, blame me or frame me.

What do you hope to accomplish/what are you looking forward to in the future?

I am excited to see how God uses me and the things I am learning now for the future of Seabreeze. I am confident that every learning curve I traverse is for a specific purpose down the road.  And whenever it’s for God, it has to be something good, because He’s always working on something amazing behind the scenes!

What is your family and spiritual background?

I was raised Catholic but walked away from God and the church at age 18.  I went my own way for 18 years, experiencing all kinds of problems and trying to overcome them by my own power and will. Finally, in 2001 I faced something that completely knocked me off my feet and left me crying out to the only one truly qualified to provide the rescue I needed. I found Seabreeze in 2005 and have become committed to advancing its mission over years of participating in the work of the church, connecting with others in Growth Groups and attending trainings to increase my understanding of God’s Word and develop my leadership skills.

What is your education and/or previous experience?

I have just recently returned to school to obtain a degree in Human Services. My prayer is that God uses my education combined with Bible knowledge to better serve his people in a way that is honoring to Him. Previously, I worked for a non-profit in the social services field, where I was able to minister to individuals experiencing similar struggles to what I have gone through in the past.

Meet Jennifer Turner

How long have you been on staff at Seabreeze?

August 26th I became part of the staff at Seabreeze! I have 25 years of retail experience and 7 years of childcare under my belt.

What is your role/what are your current responsibilities?

Working in the front office is a new adventure for me, and I am very excited to be a part of this team. My responsibilities as a Ministry Support Associate are preparing for Sunday, event preparedness, and functions related to daily operations. I also perform administrative tasks in support of the overall ministry at Seabreeze Church.

What is the best part about your work?

The best part of my job is being able to use my talents to serve my church and God. I also love getting to know my co-workers and Pastors better.

What do you hope to accomplish/what are you looking forward to in the future?

In the future, I am hoping to expand my knowledge in the computer field so that I can take on more responsibilities. I am also excited about growing my faith and diving deeper into the Bible. Working side by side with other believers has been a dream come true! I couldn't ask for a better work environment.

What is your family and spiritual background?

I grew up Catholic but only went to church on Holidays. I always wanted to have a relationship with God but didn't understand much about my faith. I didn't commit my life to Christ until I was in my middle thirties and married to my husband Jay. We started attending Seabreeze in 2004 when it was in the HB Library. I started to see my life change for the better. We got involved with volunteering, leading Growth Groups, and have been able to experience 2 mission trips to Germany. We have 3 children Lauren, Garret, and Emma. Our youngest Emma was brought up at Seabreeze and decided to give herself to Christ a few years ago. It's been such a blessing watching her faith grow and see her build relationships over the years at Seabreeze.

What is your education and/or previous experience?

I grew up in Fountain Valley and attended Fountain Valley High School. I went to Orange Coast College before I started my career in Retail Management.
