As we begin the fifth week of Pray for 5, I have two ideas for you.
Idea #1: Make some changes to when, where, and what you are praying. I find it pretty easy to slip into a routine and go through the motions without being thoughtfully engaged. This happened this last week as I was doing Pray for 5. I realized I had prayed almost an identical prayer for the people on my list several days in a row. There is nothing wrong with praying the same thing every day but for me, I realized Pray for 5 was becoming robotic. So, I needed to change it up. I needed to be more thoughtful about what and why I was praying.
Idea #2: Schedule times to meet up with those you are praying for. Pray for 5 is about asking God for opportunities to show and share the Gospel with people we know. You already started the praying part, now, add spending time with them to your calendar. Invite them to your home for dinner, go to lunch, grab coffee. Think through the opportunities to cross paths with them that you might be overlooking. This is something I am trying to do. As you spend more time with the people you are praying for, you will be more attuned to opportunities to share with them.
Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
As we enter the fifth week, let this verse be an encouragement. 4 weeks in, 1 to go. Don’t give up. Keep praying. Keep asking God to work. Keep looking for opportunities to share.
